Tim Defoe scored a career high of 29 points Thursday night to lead the visiting
Lumberjacks to victory in this Section 7AAA match up by ten points. Defoe went 4-6 from beyond the three point line. Cloquet’s RaRa Jones added 16 points in the win.

Nashwauk-Keewatin 70 Carlton 29


The Spartans came out firing as they downed the hosting Carlton Bulldogs in on Thursday night. Several unforced errors helped the Spartans build a 31 point half time lead and eventually going on to win by 41. Zach Pochucha led all scorers with 20 points for Nashwauk-Keewatin. Jake Adams paced the Bulldogs with 9.

Girls Basketball

Crosby-Ironton 56 Cloquet 41

Leading by four points at halftime, the Rangers went on to expand the lead to fourteen and win this girls basketball contest Thursday night in Crosby. Katie Swanhorst led the Rangers with 17 points on the night. Cloquet’s Annabel Morrisroe finished with 13 points in the Lumberjack loss.

Barnum 118 Wrenshall 12


The number one ranked Barnum Bombers built a huge half time lead of 70-4 and continued to roll in the second half to get the Polar League win Thursday night in Wrenshall. Candice Paulson led the Bombers in scoring with 17 points on the night. Maria Burcar finished up with 10 points for Wrenshall.

Denfeld 46 Proctor 27


The Denfeld Hunters broke a 15-15 halftime tie to outscore the Rails by 19 points in the second half and come away with the Lake Superior Conference win at Proctor Thursday night. Leah Hamm led the Hunters in scoring with 10 points on the night, while Tara Clouthier scored 9 points in the Proctor loss.

Esko 58 Two Harbors 32


The visiting Esko Eskomos rolled to the 26 point win on Thursday night with another balanced scoring attack. They led 27-12 at halftime and continued to roll to victory against Two Harbors. Keely Deadrick led the Eskomos with 17 points, while Julianne Carley added 15 in the win. Abby Ray led the Agates with a game high of 18.

Floodwood 59 Cromwell 29

The Floodwood Polar Bears rebounded from a loss to the Barnum Bombers on Monday to pick up a big win in Cromwell this past Thursday night. Brea Durovec scored a game high of 22 points in the win, while Mia Rauvola added 15 points in the win. Tayah Johnson led Cromwell with 10 points.

McGregor 44 Moose Lake-Willow River 40

The McGregor Mercuries came away with a huge four point win at home Thursday night in this Polar League contest. Trailing by three points at the halftime break, McGregor came back to win by seven. Sarah Sample paced the Mercuries with 15 points on the win. Natasha Dragicevich led all scorers with 18.

Cook County 79 AlBrook 28

The Vikings of Cook County broke out to a 48-17 halftime lead and went on to win Thursday night by fifty one points in Grand Marais. Ashley Deschampe led all scorers with 19 points in the Cook County win, while teammate Ailee Larson added 13. Ariel Morris led the Falcons in scoring with seven points in the loss.
