Bulldogs Reach Section 7A Finals

For the second time in the past two seasons, the Bulldogs find themselves back in the Section 7A finals, but this time, they are looking for a different outcome. The Bulldogs reached the section finals after winning a battle with Chisholm in the semi-finals. Carlton would edge Chisholm, 3-2 in matches.

Carlton would drop the first match on the evening, 19-25, but then they would go on to win the next two by the scores of 25-20 and 25-17. Chisholm didn’t give up though, sending it into a game 5 with a 25-20 win. But Carlton would go on to take the 5th match 15-8 and advance to the section finals for the second time in as many years.

Leading the attack for Carlton in the win would be junior Grace Macor who put in a nice effort of 13 kills tagged with 13 blocks. Also pitching in on the big victory was junior Jessica Stanslaski with 9 kills and 5 blocks, sophomore Macy Belich would have 7 kills reach the floor and sophomore Hannah Benson and junior Brianna Walton would respectively have 25 and 22 set assists in the win.

For Chisholm, senior Cheyenne Dormanen would give it her all, having 15 kills and 21 digs. Also for Chisholm, junior Holly Starkovich and senior Katie Buria would each have 10 kills. Senior setter, Taylor Gregg, had 24 set assists along with 23 digs and topping it off would be senior Toria Marturano punching it 10 kills and 16 set assists.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to an impressive 25-5 on the season and keep their chances alive of making it to the State Tournament. Chisholm ends the season with a respectable 21-8 record.

Carlton will take on Polar League opponents, the McGregor Mercuries in the Section 7A finals in Deer River on November 2nd at 6 PM.
