Braham Wins Battle of Bombers

The Braham Bombers remained perfect Thursday night at Public School Stadium as the Bombers of Braham beat the Barnum Bombers for the second time this season by a score of 28-20 in the section 7A final.

The Braham Bombers capitalized on 14 penalties by Barnum and 5 turnovers as Braham comes from behind to knock of Barnum and advance to the state tournament next Friday at St. Cloud State University.

Braham scored first Thursday when John Larson threw the first of his four touchdown passes on the night to Tristan Marthaler to put Braham up 6-0 early in the first quarter.

Barnum took the lead late in the first quarter when Barnum added two touchdown one a 28 yard touchdown run from Zac Carlson and a 3 yard touchdown run from Brandon Newman. The score remained that way until the third quarter when Sonny Foote caught a 1 yard touchdown pass from Larson to cut the lead to 14-12.

Barnum responded on the very next drive when Carlson caught a pass from Newman then avoided several would be tacklers and dashed 63 yards into the end zone for a Barnum touchdown late in the third quarter.

Braham tied the game when Zach Dahlman got behind the Barnum defense and caught Larson’s third touchdown pass as Braham had the momentum as the Bombers were reeling.

Braham went ahead for good midway through the fourth quarter when running back Elijah Overton caught a screen pass and ran into the end-zone on a 63 yard touchdown reception.

Barnum had a few chances late in the game to put drives together but again penalties and turnovers would cost Barnum a chance to tie the game as Braham held on to when the section 7A title for the first time in school history.
