The Cloquet Lumberjacks girls’ basketball team traveled to Crosby-Ironton Thursday evening hoping to keep their winning ways intact. The Crosby-Ironton Rangers, however, had other ideas handing the Lumberjacks a 56-41 loss.

Cloquet started the evening strong, trailing by only 4 points at halftime by a score of 31-27. In the second half, however, C-I outscored Cloquet 25-14 to win by a score of 56-41. Crosby-Ironton finished with seven 3-pointers on the night, four of which came from senior Katie Swanhorst who had a game high 17 points.

It appeared that C-I was quite aware of the ability of Cloquet’s Annabel Morrisroe to dominate the paint, holding her to a team high 13 points. Brianna Henagin had a strong night offensively, finishing with 12 points.

Rounding out the scoring was Kialee Kutter with 8 points, Krista Schmitz had 3 points, Katie Pappas and Kenzie Rathe each chipped in 2 points, while Sarah McMillen added a point.
