The Barnum Bombers entered Monday night’s game against Floodwood a little short handed, missing their senior standout Katrina Newman. Even though Newman averages over twenty points per game, the Bombers didn’t miss a beat Monday as they beat the Polar Bears 67-39.

Despite spending considerable time on the bench because of foul trouble, Sarah Myhre turned out a dominating performance, leading all scorers twenty points. Myhre scored most of her points in the paint for Barnum, but also chipped in a few from the field.

The Barnum defense did a good job shutting down Floodwood’s two top players Monday, holding Mia Rauvola and Alissa Autio to a combined 20 points on the night. Rauvola scored sixteen in the loss, while Autio was held to only four points. Eight of Rauvola’s sixteen points came in the final two minutes, with the game well decided by then.

Jessica Newman finished with 15 points on the night for the Bombers, Jenna Zmyslony had a nice game with 13 points, Katie Myhre added 9 points, Leah Nordvall would end with 6 and Claire Rodgers finished with 4.

Brea Durovec followed Rauvola in scoring with 5 points, Emily Tamminen and Sammy Johnson both ended with 4 points, Molly Johnson and Hailey Clark both finished with 3 points on the night.

Barnum moves to 9-1 on the season and is in action again on Thursday when they face the Wrenshall Wrens in Wrenshall. Floodwood falls to 7-3 on the season and will play at Cromwell on Thursday night.
