The Hermantown Hawks conquered all comers at the Thief River Falls Holiday Hockey Tournament. The Hawks topped off their run to the championship with a convincing 9-3 win over East Grand Forks on Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday’s affair was tight throughout the game until the Hawks hammered home six third period goals to come away with the win.

Adam Krause scored the only goal of the first period at 8:01 with an assist to Jeff Paczynski as Hermantown took a 1-0 lead.

Second period action saw EGF tie the score on a goal by Andrew Gregoire at 4:47 of the period, but the Hawks notched a goal by Paczynski at 6:01 to regain a 2-1 lead on the power play with assists to Krause and Jared Kolquist. Andrew Oakes scored at 12:31 with Charlie Comnick assisting and it was 3-1 Hermantown. However, before the period ended EGF pulled to 3-2 when Brandon Peabody scored an unassisted goal at 13:20.

Things looked good in the third period for EGF as they tied the game at 6:26 on a goal by Alex Robertson, but from that point on it was all Hermantown. The Hawks picked up a goal at 7:11 from Krause, then at 8:07 it was Krause scoring another goal and at 12:19 it was amazingly enough another goal from Krause–his fourth of the game. That wasn’t all for the Hawks because at 12:49 Oakes scored again, Chad Bannor added a goal at 14:23 on the power play and finally it was Paczynski finishing the scoring at 15:34.

Oddly enough, the Hawks were out shot by EGF 31-29 for the game.
