On Tuesday night, the Hermantown Hawks served notice that they will be a major force come the end of the year in boys Class A hockey. The fourth ranked team in Class A, the Hermantown Hawks thumped #7 ranked Thief River Falls 7-0 this Tuesday night in holiday tournament play in Thief River Falls.

Hermantown wasted little time in showing the Prowlers their scoring power as they lit the lamp five times in the first period on their way to a 5-0 lead after the opening stanza. Scoring for Hermantown were Jeff Paczynski, Jared Thomas, Cody Christopherson, Adam Krause and Conner Hady. The final four goals of the period came over a four minute and twenty two second span.

Jared Thomas scored the lone goal of the second period at 9:33 and the only goal of the third period came from Willis Kantonen just 27 seconds into the final frame.

The Hawks were impressive on the power play as they went 2-for-3 with the extra attacker, while the Prowlers struggled to a 0-for-6 performance with the extra man.

In nets, Tiegen Brickson notched the shut out for Hermantown in making 25 saves, while Prowler goalie Zane Gothberg finished with 8 saves on 15 shots.
