After losing their first game in the Eden Prairie Invitational girls hockey tournament on Monday, the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks bounced back to win 2-0 over Shakopee on Tuesday night.

The Lumberjacks dropped their opener on Monday 4-1 to Spring Lake Park, but on Tuesday senior goalie Sarah Gustafson slammed the door with a shut out performance, collecting 15 saves in the process.

Savanna Hanson scored what would be the only goal CEC would need at 11:14 of the first period with defender Megan Nelson picking up the lone assist. The Jacks led only 1-0 after two stanzas, but CEC’s strong defensive play as well as Gustafson’s goaltending kept Shakopee off the board.

In the third period it was Dalyce Gustafson putting the game away with a goal at 9:38 with the single assist going to Melissa Clark.

For the game, the Jacks put 27 shots on Shakopee goalie Kailey Ganson.
