Hermantown’s comeback fell short Monday as they fell to the Bluejackets in the Hibbing Holiday Tournament. Trailing by 14 at halftime, the Hawks’ rally just wasn’t enough, with the end result being a six-point loss. Michael Swartz led all scorers Monday in finishing with 22 points. The Hawks will face Eveleth-Gilbert in the consolation bracket Tuesday.

Cromwell 62 Eagle Valley 56

Jordan Smith scored 19 points Monday night to lead the Cardinals to a six point win in the Pillager Holiday Tournament. Cromwell led 30-27 at the break and went on to gain the “W”. Mike Hedin added 15 points for Cromwell as well. The Cardinals will face Isle tonight in the championship game. Isle defeated Pillager 54-39 to make it to the final round of play.

ML-WR 44 East Central 34

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels opened their tournament play with a win on Monday night in the Rebel Invitational Holiday Tournament. The Rebels’ Austin Jacobson led all scorers with 17 points, while Trevor Nummela added 12 points in the Rebels’ ten-point win. ML-WR will face state ranked Maranatha Christian Academy tonight in Willow River.

International Falls 54 Proctor 25


The Proctor Rails fell Monday night at home in the Proctor Holiday Tournament to International Falls by a score of 54-25. Proctor trailed by 6 at halftime, but the Broncos exploded for 32 points in the second half which easily brought them to the 29 point win. Hanna Heibel led the Broncos with 16, while Abbey Lundeen led Proctor with 12.
