Rails Tie Princeton 4-4

Through the second period on Tuesday night it looked as though the Proctor boys hockey team would skate away with a win over Princeton. However, a late rally by the Tigers gave them a 4-4 tie against the Rails as neither team could score in overtime.

Neither team could get an edge in the first period with it ending in a 1-1 tie. Andrew Michalski scored for the Rails, while Trevor Forland scored for Princeton. Michalaski’s goal was assisted by Tom Rossiter and Ian Ecklund.

The Rails owned the second period and pulled out to a 4-2 lead as they outscored the Tigers 3-1 in the period. At 1:14 Michalski notched his second goal of the game with Rossiter assisting. Princeton answered back midway through the period, but the Rails picked up goals from Tyler Pionk and Cody Gauthier at 10:45 and 15:43 to give them a two-goal edge entering the final stanza.

Princeton rallied in the final period with a goal by Ryne Grove at 4:38 and another by Ian Robertson at 12:45 to tie the game and send it to overtime.

Derek Robinson had a big game in the nets for the Rails with 29 saves, while Princeton net minder Josh McClouth finished with 35 saves.
