It took a strong effort in goal by Anja Morris, but in the end the Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall Mirage girl’s hockey team pulled out an impressive 3-1 win over Breck on Monday night. Breck had been ranked as high as #8 in the pre-season polls.

PHM took a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by Alyssa Wargin and Allison Jonas. Wargin scored at 10:25 with assists to Justina Lindberg and Julia Gilbert and Jonas scored just 23 seconds later with assists to Stephanie Thun and Rachel Rossiter.

After a scoreless second period, Breck pumped in a goal on the power play at 5:54 of the third period when Kayla Mork scored. However, that would be all the closer they would get as Rossiter hit an empty net goal with Hannah Buchite picking up the assist with just 33 seconds left in regulation.

Morris was impressive in the nets with 40 saves for the Mirage, while Breck goalie Payne Beck made 14 stops on 17 shots.
