Cloquet Track Competes in Proctor Quadrangular

The Cloquet track team competed in a four-team meet Tuesday afternoon in Proctor. The boys finished third, while the girls finished second on the day with 89.5 points 3.5 points behind Hermantown who won the event with 93 points.

The girls had a strong showing in field events, sprints, and relays, while the boys were led by again by seniors Nolan Dokken and Simon Thill. Dokken won the 300m hurdles with a time of 44.6 seconds and pole vaulted his way to a respectable third place finish with a height of 9’6”. Thill won the long jump with a jump of 18’8 ½”, almost a foot better than the competition. Rara Jones also placed well, notching a third place finish in the 100m sprint with a time of 11.6 seconds. Jones came across the finish line virtually at the same time as the top two finishers, who won the event tied with 11.5 seconds. Jones, Thill, and Dokken were also members of the 4×100-relay team that finished second.

The Lumberjack girls’ team displayed more team depth than the boys did with several different individuals scoring well. Kait Proulx and Hannah Roy finished first and second in the triple jump with jumps of 29’ 9 ¼” and 29’ 2” respectively. Cloquet also cleaned up in the shot put event by earning the top three spots. Jennifer Edward, Annabel Morrisroe, and Amelia Udenberg finished first, second and third respectively. Taylor Sautbine also finish second in the high jump, clearing 4’8”.

Senior Jes Vork once again led the Lumberjacks in the sprints taking home first place honors in the 100m and 200m open events. The 4×200 relay team, which consists of Taylor Sautbine, Kait Proulx, Liz Litke, and Kialee Kutter won the event with an early season time of 1:57 seconds.

The Lumberjacks travel to Cambridge Friday to participate in the Norm Ayen Invitational and are in Superior on Tuesday for another quadrangular.
