CEC Golfers HIt the Links in Brainerd

The Cloquet and Esko boys golfers were full swing this past weekend in Brainerd. The Lumberjacks competed in an 18-team meet on Friday and Saturday, held at the Pines and the Preserves golf courses respectively.

The team section of the meet saw the following finish: 1st -Hermantown 628, 2nd- International Falls 649, 3rd -Brainerd 670, 4th -Grand Rapids 676, 5th -tie between Bemidji and Staples-Motley 688, 7th -Virginia 692, 8th -Hawley 695, 9th -Pequot Lakes 703, 10th -Nevis 719, 11th -Cloquet 723, 12th -Detroit Lakes 732, 13th -Esko 768, 14th -Crosby-Ironton 784, 15th -Wadena-Deer Creek 794, 16th -Pierz 798, 17th -Pine River-Backus 847,and finishing in 18th was Park Rapids 977.

Even though Cloquet finished 11th out of 18 teams, many positives came from the meet. Both head coach Tom McFarlane and assistant coach Matt Carlson saw many positives from the first meet of the season.

Individual results for the Lumberjacks are as follows: Danny Nelson and Andrew Castle were low individuals both shooting 177 over the two days. Eric Fryc shot 187, Karl Palmquist 188, Ryan Korby 189, and Derek Schrecengost shot 190.

The Lumberjacks will next participate in the Grand Rapids Invite Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th. On Friday, the golfers will be at Pokegema and Saturday at Eagle Ridge in Coleraine.
