Lady Eskomos Continue To Roll

The Esko Eskomos continued to roll Monday by defeating the Mesabi East Giants 87-33 at home, running their record to 6-0 on the season. Esko started fast and never looked back as they cruised to the 54 point win.


Keely Deadrick led the offensive onslaught, finishing with 22 points in the first half alone. Deadrick’s heavy contribution helped the Eskomos’ 54-16 lead at halftime. Esko continued in the second half by playing outstanding basketball , outscoring the Giants in the second stanza 35-17.


Deadrick paced all scores on the night as she finished with 24 points, including two 3-pointers. Amanda Bergstedt had another great game with 17 points and 6 assists. Freshman Savanna Trapp added 15 points for Esko. The rest of the scoring went as follows: Julianne Carley 9, Alyson Glumac 6, Danielle Salo and Megan Reuer both with 4. Five players also finished with two points on the night for the Eskomos.


Ashley Lislegard led seven Giant scorers on the night. Lislegard had six points in a losing effort for Mesabi East. Esko starts the season with six straight wins and are in action again this Friday and Saturday when they host the Esko Coaches’ Classic.


The Giants fall to 0-5 on the season and will be in action again on Thursday as they look for their first win against Eveleth-Gilbert at home.
