Cloquet-Esko-Carlton fell to 0-3 on the season in boys hockey after a 2-1 loss to the South St. Paul Packers on the road Thursday night.

The Lumberjacks, who have scored just two goals in three games this season, continue to struggle to find offensive production. On Thursday night, the lone Jacks goal was scored by Adam Hanson–his first as a high school player.

Hanson scored at 8:55 of the first period, giving the Jacks a 1-0 lead. Paul Ryan assisted on Hanson’s goal. Unfortunately, the Jacks lead was short lived as Austyn Young powered a shot by CEC net minder Boyd Smith at the 13:22 mark with the Packers tying the game at 1-1.

Neither team managed to score in the second period, but South St. Paul took the lead at 2-1 on a goal early in the third period when Tim Kohlmann took a pass from Trevor Mikacevich at 1:48.

Smith finished with 38 saves on 40 shots for the Jacks while Packer goalie Adam Wilcox finished with 27 saves on 28 shots.
