Thunder’s Curtis Houle Named Player Of The Week

Curtis Houle, sophomore guard for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder men’s basketball team, was named Player of the Week in the Northern Division of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference for his performance in games played November 16 through November 21, 2009. Houle scored 25 points and had five steals in a 100 to 54 loss to Central Lakes College in Brainerd on Friday, November 20. Additionally, Houle scored 30 points and had three steals in a 76 to 73 victory over Mesabi Range Community and Technical College on Saturday, November 21.


As of December 2, Houle is ranked second among the league leaders in scoring with a 23.0 points per game average. Houle is also on the list of league leaders for steals per game.


Curtis Houle is from Barnum, Minnesota, where he earned Polar League All-Conference honors and played on several state tournament teams during high school.


The next home game for the Thunder women’s and men’s basketball teams is Friday, December 11th against Minnesota Community College-Fergus Falls. The women’s game is set for 6:00 p.m. and the men’s game starts at 8:00 p.m. in the Lester Jack Briggs Cultural Center on campus.


The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The conference is comprised of 17 colleges which are divided geographically into Northern and Southern Divisions.
