The FDLTCC’s first volleyball season officially came to an end recently when the Thunder finished their last four matches at home. Although the season record was not where coaches would have wanted, it was a very productive year. The girls finished with an overall record of 2-14.

Head coach Mike Patenaude was very pleased with how this season progressed, telling Northland Sports Online that “the future looks good for Thunder volleyball.” He added, “We have several returning players for next season and we should have a good recruiting class coming in as well.”

Patenaude and his assistant coach Loran Wappes will concentrate on adding more players that can fit properly into their volleyball program.
Coach Patenaude stated, “We are a great choice for those considering a 4 year school to play volleyball as those players can step in and see playing time right away, which sometimes doesn’t happen in a 4 year college.”

This season, the Thunder was led by several players who stepped up their game. Kayla Deadrick led them with 79 kills followed by Karissa Gustafson with 76 kills. Jess Minotte was the Thunder’s leader in assists with 219 on the season. Minotte also led the Thunder in ace serves with 18 and Jenny Pederson added 11. Natasha Couillard paced the Thunder with 114 digs and Pederson was a close second with 109. Gustafson would also lead the Thunder in blocks with 49, Deadrick was second with 24.

This season was a good starting mark for the FDLTCC’s volleyball program. “We play in a very tough conference with a lot of great teams and players. I see us only improving from here on out.” Northland Sports Online would like to congratulate all players who are finishing their studies at FDLTCC this year.
