Friday night was a rainy one, but that didn’t stop the Wrenshall Wrens from rushing by Carlton to get their 3rd straight win. Wrenshall got to a quick start on the ground and never looked back, shutting out Carlton, 55-0.

Wrenshall would start their scoring early in the 1st quarter as they rushed down the field and ended their drive when Junior Hunter Pauly punched one in from 5 yards out to give them the early 7-0 lead. On Carlton’s next possession, the Wrens would play tough defense and ended up blocking Carlton’s punt leaving them in fantastic field position. Wrenshall would capitalize on this when junior Luke Vine would find the end zone for the first time on the evening and pushing the Wrens lead to 14-0.

Wrenshall would score again in the second quarter when Luke Vine would go 13 yards to up the score to 28-0 before halftime.

The Wrens defense stayed strong coming out of the half, forcing and recovering a fumble on Carlton’s first possession. Wrenshall would capitalize when Vine punched another touchdown in, this time from just 5 yards out. Afterwards Bulldogs Junior Dominic Bennett would make a long run of 60 yards, but their woes would continue, fumbling away the next snap and Wrenshall would recover once again.

Turnovers continued to haunt the Bulldogs early in the 4th when they fumbled the ball for the 4th time on the evening. Wrenshall once again would take advantage of the turnovers and would score once more when Pauly took his 3rd touchdown of the game into the end zone from 25 yards out and topping off the scoring frenzy for the Wrens giving them the huge 55-0 win over their crosstown rivals, the Carlton Bulldogs.

Wrenshall improves to 3-3 with the victory and will be back in action when they take on the Cromwell Cardinals (3-3) at home on Friday, October 11th. Carlton falls to 0-6 on the year and will seek their first win when they travel to play the McGregor Mercuries (2-4) on October 11th at 7 PM.
