Duluth East topples Denfeld, 4-0

The Duluth East Greyhounds improved their record to 6-3-1 on Thursday when they beat their cross-town rivals the Duluth Denfeld Hunters, 4-0. Duluth East has won three of their last four games, While Denfeld falls to 2-7 on the season.

The scoring for the Greyhounds was kicked off when senior Tyler Madill scored in the 18th minute. The goal was assisted by senior Trygve Rennan. Duluth would score again in the first half, when sophomore Sam Brickley scored a goal assisted by Madill at the 34th minute. The Hounds would go on to score again in the 2nd half, when Madill punched in his second goal of the night, assisted by junior Colin Hietapelto. Senior Anders Saksa would top off the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 61st minute.

Junior goalkeeper Hugh VanScoy made 2 saves on the night and also dropped his goals-against average under 1.0 per game in the victory. Denfeld keeper, Thomas Olafson would make 7 saves in the loss.

East will be back in action when they travel to play St. Francis on September 21st. They will then take on Denfeld once again at home on September 26th at 8 PM. Denfeld will play Chisago at home and then travel to Ashland before they take on Duluth East again.
