Rebels Win A Thriller

The Moose Lake Willow River Rebel volleyball team outlasted the McGregor Mercuries in a very competitive match. It took all 5 games to decide the match as the Rebels won the deciding game 15-13 as neither team led by more than 2 pts.

The first two games were not very close as the Mercuries won 25-19 in the opening game. The Rebels turned the tables winning 25-11 setting up a wild finish.

They split games 3 and 4 as MLWR won game 3, 25-23. The Rebels had a couple of chances to end it in game 4, but the Mercuries forced the deciding game with a 28-26 victory.

McGregor Abbey Hawkinson reached a milestone Thursday night when she had her 1000th career set for the Mercuries.

Karina Cisar led the Rebels with 16 kills and 3 blocks. Adri Jusczak helped with 13 kills, Nikki Grutkoski had 3 aces and Hayley Johnson notched 21 digs.

MLWR improved to 9-5 on the season while McGregor fell to 6-5. The Rebels next game is Monday at East Central, while McGregor faces Isle at home.
