Carlton Comes Up Just Short In Upset Bid

The Carlton Bulldogs volleyball team fell short in closing their regular season as the Deer River Warriors downed them 3-2. The Warriors, who entered the match on Tuesday ranked 5th in the state volleyball coaches’ association poll in class A, were tested to the end. The Bulldogs and the Warriors fought all the way before Deer River won the last game 15-9.


The Warriors won the tight first two games of the match 25-20 and 25-23. The Bulldogs bounced back and won the next two games 25-13 and 25-21. Yet, in the last game, the Bulldogs fell just short with the Warriors coming away with the win.


The Bulldogs regular season ended with an overall record of 14-11. The Deer River Warriors improved their record to 22-5 and host Hibbing, the long time volleyball powerhouse,
on Friday night.
The section volleyball tournament begins on Monday, October 26th.
