The Barnum Bombers came up with a huge win Friday to set themselves in the Section 7A standings as football playoffs approach quickly. The Barnum Bombers are tied for third in the section standings after the win Friday over Cook County 30-26 in Barnum.

Cook County entered the game with no wins on the season.
Their head coach, Mitch Dorr told NSO, “We played the best game this year so far.” “It has been a tough season this year and to play a Barnum team at their place and play so well was good for our team.”

Barnum senior running back Taylor Carlson had a big night scoring three touchdowns, one on an interception return and two rushing touchdowns, to pace the Bombers in the win Friday. Wyatt Finifrock added the other touchdown for Barnum when he scored on a one-yard touchdown run.

“We did what we had to do and win,” head coach Kevin Haley told Northland Sports Online. “Our team needs to keep winning and keep fighting as the season now wears down.” Haley would add that “Our focus is on finishing the season strong and getting the best seeding we can.”

Barnum will travel to Ely on Wednesday to face the Ely Timberwolves (1-5), while Cook County will host Carlton (2-3) at home on Wednesday night.
