It was a good night for Cloquet and a rough night for Proctor in volleyball at the Cloquet High School gymnasium. The Jacks won 25-9, 25-15 and 25-21 and gave the Rails trouble all night.

The Rails problems began in game one when the Jacks, behind the serving of Keanna Karulak, rolled to an 11-0 lead before Proctor was able to finally get on the board. Cloquet had it all going, whether it was kills by Katie Schulz, Katie Konietzko, Emily Fossen and Maddie Kiehn or the serving of all the Jacks. They just had an impressive start to the match overall.

Game two was tight until midway through the match when Konietzko and Schulz took over the game with their strong play at the net and Cloquet rolled to the win. Cloquet coach, Heidi Anderson, got a number of reserves in both game two and three and allowed them some much needed experience.

In game three, Cloquet led 5-4 when Schulz got back-to-back kills and Jenna Beaupre crushed a ball through the block to push the lead to 8-4. When Kierra Johnson went back to serve the Jacks led it 10-5, but it was Johnson serving an ace, Kiehn pounding a kill, another ace by Johnson and suddenly the Jacks were up 12-5.

On the night, Konietzko had 10 kills and five digs, Schulz had nine kills and five digs along with three ace serves, Fossen pounded out eight kills, Kiehn had seven kills and Karulak finished with 26 set assists and two ace serves.

Justine Johnson led the Rails with nine blocks.
