After being beaten for the first time last week, the Cloquet Lumberjacks needed to get back on track Friday night against Eveleth-Gilbert. The Jacks didn’t disappoint as they throttled the Golden Bears 44-6 in a high school football game played on the road.

Paul Ryan struck twice in the first quarter on runs of two and 14 yards as Cloquet built a 14-0 lead. The Jacks even got a safety as Ryan made a tackle in the end zone, giving Cloquet a 16-0 lead after one quarter.

In the second quarter Anthony Hudson got in on the offensive act by crashing into the end zone from three yards out and the Jacks led it 23-0 after the third extra point kick of the night by star kicker Thomas Rogers.

Before the half ended Ryan found pay dirt again, this time on a 20-yard lightning bolt type of run. Rogers again tacked on the extra point and the Jacks led it 30-0 at halftime.

In the third quarter RaRa Jones ripped off a magnificent 54-yard touchdown run and Ryan also added another three yard score for his fourth of the game as the Jacks built their lead to 44-0 following the extra point kicks by Rogers. In fact, Rogers went 6-for-6 in extra point kicks on the night and Ryan had four touchdown runs.

The final score of the game came when the Jacks had their second string in the lineup and was scored by Shawn Johnson of the Golden Bears on an 86-yard touchdown run.
