Barnum graduate Jenna Halverson has been running her way through her college life. Halverson, active in track and cross country, continues to excel and lead the UWS Yellowjackets cross country team again this fall.

Halvorson, who set several records last spring for the track team, has been showing that same success this fall. She is the lone senior competing this season for UWS and has led the Jackets in every meet thus far in this fall season.

Halverson has had success in each meet this season, placing in the top 25 at the UMD meet in September. The UW-Superior women’s cross country team competed in the Roy Griak cross country meet next, which was hosted by the University of Minnesota. Again, Jenna Halverson led the team by finishing with a time of 25:54 in a race that featured over 500 competitors.

The women’s cross country team next traveled to Colfax, Wisconsin to compete in the BlueGold Open, which has hosted by UW-Eau Claire last Friday. The meet was held in cool, damp, and windy conditions, but that didn’t stop every member of the women’s team from establishing seasonal best times on the hilly and wet course. Halverson was the top Yellowjacket at the meet, finishing in a time of 25:28.

Halverson’s best time of the year has been 25:24 at the UMD meet in September. She will try to record her best time of the season this Saturday as UMD hosts their alumni meet at Pine Hill golf course in Carlton. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:45 am. The Yellowjackets will have two more meets after the UMD meet this weekend before finishing up with the WIAC conference meet on October 31st in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
