The Barnum Bombers and Carlton Bulldogs are setting themselves up well for Section 7A football playoffs. In a tight battle, both the Bombers and Bulldogs are trying to improve their seedings with the first round of playoffs less than three weeks away.

The Bombers, now 3-2 on the season, are currently in third place in the section standings. Barnum will host Cook County on Friday as they come off of a huge win last week in Chisholm. They will then travel to Ely and Mesabi East to round out the regular season.

The Bulldogs enter Friday’s game against Chisholm with a record of 1-3, struggling as they come off of two big losses in a row. Their most recent loss was to Onamia and it came on the heels of a big loss to Mesabi East. The Bulldogs hope moving homecoming to football season will add extra inspiration this Friday as they host Chisholm. The Bulldogs will play at Cook County and at East Central to wrap up the regular season.

Barnum will continue to rely on a strong running game led by Josh Hogan and Taylor Carlson because their solid experienced offensive and defensive line may be the ultimate factor in advancement in the Section 7A playoffs.

Carlton will continue to have big plays from quarterback Allan Davis and his go-to receiver Chase Jokinen. Colton Godbout leads the Bulldogs in rushing. The big key is to limit turnovers, which, in the past, the Bulldogs had several at in-opportune times.
