Cloquet Girls Soccer Reel Off Nine Straight

Oct 6

The Cloquet girls soccer team is on quite a high. The Jacks have reeled off nine straight wins and find themselves with a gaudy 12-2-1 record on the season. Game number nine in that roll came last night when the Jacks beat Duluth Central 6-1 on the road at Public Schools Stadium in Duluth.

The Jacks pumped in two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. Sadie Micke and Courtney Esse tallied the markers as the Jacks spent almost the entire first half in the Trojan end of the field.

In the second half, it was Esse scoring twice again, Micke added another goal and Katie Pappas thumped in a goal as well. Central’s lone goal was scored by Elizabeth Thomas.

Since a September 5th 1-0 loss to Holy Angels Academy and a September 10th overtime tie with the Hermantown Hawks, the Jacks have not lost. During that span they have wins over Hermantown (4-0) and have allowed only five goals in the past nine games, three of which came in a 9-3 win over Two Harbors. Cloquet has not allowed a goal in six of the past nine games.

Next up for the Jacks is a Thursday night show down with next door neighbor Esko-Carlton, a team that Cloquet defeated 4-2 earlier in the season.

So dominant was Cloquet in the win over Central that Kaitrin Rathe, the Jacks goalie, faced only one shot.

Thursday will bring a matchup sure to be a treat to Northland soccer fans when Cloquet makes the short trip to Esko to take on the archrival Esko-Carlton.
The Eskomos are also riding high after
notching a 3-2 overtime win over
the surging
Denfeld HuntersTuesday night.
