Nick Anderson registered a hat trick Tuesday evening to help the C-E-C boys soccer team snap a four game losing streak by beating Duluth Central 4-1 in their final regular season home game of the season.

Anderson got the scoring started for CEC with his first goal in the 11th minute as Maxx Sinkkonen picked up the assist on the play. Four minutes later, Sinkkonen would get a goal of his own and put the Jacks up 2-0 with the help of an assist from Josiah Barrett.

Duluth Central got on the scoreboard and back in the game in the 18th minute with a goal from Jordan Dowd, cutting the margin to 2-1.

The 2-1 score would be as close as the Trojans would get as Anderson would remove any future Duluth Central hope by scoring two second half goals in the 49th and 74th minutes.

Besides Anderson’s hat trick, CEC got a fine performance from Sinkkonen who had a goal and two assists on the night.

Derek Schrecengost turned in a solid performance by making 11 saves, showing all of the rust is gone from being sidelined with a broken hand earlier in the season. Ben Poppin tallies eight saves for the Trojans in the losing effort.

The Lumberjacks will close out their regular season October 13th when they travel to Duluth Marshall.
