Despite the constant drizzle, the Cloquet Lumberjacks turned in another outstanding performance beating Proctor 10-0 to pick up the Lake Superior Conference win on the road.

The Jacks once again showed that trying to shut down any one person would be pointless with seven different Lumberjacks making their mark in the scoring column.

Six of Cloquet’s 10 goals came in the first half allowing Head Coach Dustin Randall to get plenty of game minutes from his bench. Randall told NSO, “It was a Good chance for me to get game time for my younger players who stepped up and played well.”

Scoring goals for the Lumberjacks were; Haley Bassett, Lena Swander, Emily Johnson 2, Katie Pappas 2, Kelsey Anderson, Jessie Ryan 2, and Carri Zeadow.

Equally as impressive as the Lumberjacks offense is the performance of their defensive unit. Cloquet has given up only one goal in the past six games. Randall was understandably proud of his defense
on Saturday. He stated, “Again, a dominating defensive performance, with Kaitrin Rathe getting another shutout, while only having to save 1 shot.”

The shutout was Rathe’s fifth in the last six games and the eighth of the year.

Cloquet will travel to Duluth Central on Tuesday for an 8:00pm game under the lights. Thursday the Lumberjacks will make the short trip to Esko for a huge game with Esko/Carlton. Life doesn’t get any easier for Proctor as they travel to Hermantown Monday to take on the Hawks.
