Cloquet Girls Soccer Continues To Roll

For the Cloquet girls soccer team, the wins just keep coming. On a cold windy night on the road, the Lady Jacks picked up the 4-1 win over Duluth Marshall.

The wind and cold seemed to have a bit of an effect on the Lumberjacks, with Cloquet started a bit slower than normal. Haley Bassett scored the only first half goal for Cloquet.

After the break was a different story however. Courtney Esse and Jesse Ryan both scored in the first three minutes of the second half. Head Coach Dustin Randall commented to Northland Sports Online, “We came out the second half strong and took care of business.”

Cloquet finished with a late insurance goal from Emily Johnson, who, after Emily Rikkola made a nice run with the ball finished with it with a tap in from right in front.

On a down note, Cloquet’s remarkable streak of four consecutive shutouts came to an end when they gave up a goal to Marshall with 17 minutes left in the game. Two Harbors was the last team to score on the Lumberjacks back on September 17. During that four game stretch the Jacks scored 18 goals while holding their opponents scoreless.

Cloquet will put its seven game win streak on the line Saturday when they travel to Proctor for a 10:00 am game.
