Tuesday night brought some great volleyball action to the Northland. In what was by far the biggest game of the night, the Barnum Bombers beat Esko in four games to put themselves at the top of the Polar League standings and extend their winning streak to 12 games. There were other NSO area games on the menu as well.

Of course, the big match up was the Barnum at Esko game which saw the Bombers win 19-25, 26-24, 25-22 and 25-18. Barnum was led by the efforts of Katrina and Jessica Newman. Katrina ended the night with 21 kills and 10 digs. Jessica meanwhile, totaled 34 set assists while running the offense. Kayla Handevidt had a big night for the Eskomos with 21 kills, 4 ace serves and 3 blocks.

The Cloquet Lumberjacks picked up a 3-1 win over Hinckley-Finlayson as Katie Konietzko led the way with 6 kills, 3 ace serves and 4 blocks. Cloquet won by scores of 25-6, 25-16, 20-25, and 25-18.

AlBrook parlayed 14 kills from Abby Otis into a 3-0 win over Wrenshall by scores of 25-22, 25-13, and 25-9. Kortney Karppinen added 12 kills and Chelsea Hendrickson finished with 23 set assists.

In other volleyball news, the Carlton Bulldogs needed five games to beat the pesky Cromwell Cards. Carlton won the fifth and deciding game with a score of 15-11. Taylor Carpenter had 23 kills for the Bulldogs and Ashley Collman recorded 6 kills and 14 digs for the Cards. Scores from the match were 23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 26-16 and 15-11.

Finally, the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels struggled on Tuesday as they dropped a 3-0 decision to the always tough Hermantown Hawks.
