Carlton Tops Cromwell in Polar League Volleyball

he Carlton Bulldogs volleyball team, fresh off of a second place finish this past weekend in the Bagley tournament, started slow on Thursday against the Cromwell Cardinals. The Bulldogs, however, came back strong after falling behind two games to beat Cromwell three games to two.


The Bulldogs and the Cardinals battled in two tough games to start the match Tuesday. It was Cromwell winning the first two games 25-23 and 25-21.


The Bulldogs then righted the ship as they took game three by 25-19 and 25 -16 in game four. In the final game, Cromwell jumped in front, but the lead would be short lived as the Bulldogs came back to knock off the Cardinals 15-11 to take the match.


Tayler Carpenter led the Bulldogs with 23 kills. Sarah Aili also had another strong night for Carlton as she added 9 kills in the victory. Brittany Zime also finished with 9 kills and Clarissa Nelson finished with 8 kills for the Bulldogs.


Ashley Collman had a strong performance in the losing effort for Cromwell, registering 6 kills, 14 digs and 8 blocks. RaeAnn Odegaard also had a great night on defense for the Cards with 19 digs.


The Carlton Bulldogs improve to 10-7 overall on the season. They will be in action again on Thursday night when they host Wrenshall. Cromwell falls to 9-9 on the season and the Cardinals are also in action on Thursday when they travel to Cook County to take on the Vikings.
