CARLTON – The Carlton Bulldogs dropped the first game on Thursday night in a Polar League Match-up with the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels, and after that loss the Bulldogs dug deep and won the next three games to come away with a 3-1 victory in Carlton.

The Bulldogs and the Rebels would match points and runs throughout all four games Thursday; the largest lead by either team was six points until the Bulldogs went on a 9-2 run to close the Rebels out in the fourth game.

“It was a nice win tonight” Head Coach Barb Soukkala told Northland Sports Online, “We have had a tough run in last weekend’s tournament and earlier this week against Floodwood,” Soukkala stated. “The girls didn’t quit fighting tonight and we came up big when we needed a kill, a block or a dig.” Soukkala added.

The Bulldogs would win the match winning the final three games; the Rebels won the opening game 25-23, and had leads in all three of the games they lost. “We have to stop making errors that cost us,” Head Coach Michael Edmond told Northland Sports Online. “There are going to be mistakes, but we have to eliminate having three or four mistakes in a row.” Edmond would say.

ML-WR falls to 2-10 overall on the season and will be in action on Tuesday when they play at Hermantown.

Carlton evens its overall record to 6-6 and is in action this weekend, playing in the Bagley tournament.
