CLOQUET – The Cloquet volleyball team has been looking to become more consistent this season. On Thursday night the Jacks epitomized that consistency with a 3-0 shellacking of the Superior Spartans on the Jacks home court.

Cloquet took the first game 25-21 and then steamrolled to 25-15 and 25-9 victories behind the power of Katie Konietzko (9-kills), Katie Schulz and Maddie Kiehn (8-kills).

The first game was a seesaw type game until Cloquet blew the game open late. The Jacks led 17-15 when Ahnna Peterson reeled off six straight service points pushing the Jacks to the win. The game ended with a thunderous hit by Schulz through a double block on the left side of the net.

The Spartans jumped to a 4-2 lead early in game two, but again the Jacks stormed back this time midway through the game on the serving of Kiehn and at the end of the game with five straight service points from Kierra Johnson.

Game three saw the Spartans go ahead 4-0, but the Jacks blew the game wide open when Keanna Karulak served for seven straight points when the Jacks trailed 7-5 and then it was 11 straight service points by Schulz with the Jacks leading 13-8 giving Cloquet an eventual lead of 24-9 before they finished the game with another big hit off a Spartan serve.

Konietzko also added 12 set assists and 9 digs, Schulz pitched in with four ace serves and 14 digs, Johnson added 14 digs and Karulak chipped in with 10 set assists.

The Spartans were led by Dani Magdzas who had five kills and four set assists and Ally Keute who added 12 digs.
