Barnum Volleyball now 6-0 On The Season

The Barnum Bombers are developing a tradition of winning, be it volleyball, basketball softball, track or academics, the lady’s involved in the Barnum Bombers athletics have earned themselves quite a reputation as a group of hard working dedicated student athletes’. This was once again demonstrated on Thursday as the Bombers swept McGregor in a Polar League matchup in McGregor.


The Bombers topped the Mercuries by the scores of 25-7, 25-4, and 25-13. This was the thirteenth straight game the Bombers have won. The last loss occurred in a 3-2 victory over the Cloquet Lumberjacks two weeks ago.


“We continue to get better and better each night” Barnum head coach Corina Newman told Northland Sports Online. “We played very well tonight under very hot conditions.” Newman would say.”We need to stay focused for this weekend,” Head coach Newman also replied, referring to the tournament the Bombers are hosting this Saturday. “We have a lot of good teams coming and it will be a good test.”


Katrina Newman led the Bombers with 11 kills; Jenna Zmyslony added 4 kills in the win. Jessica Newman had 17 set assists for Barnum along with 5 service aces; Sammi Parker would have 4 aces as well. The Bombers totaled 17 ace serves as a team Thursday. Zmyslony led the Bombers with 10 Diggs and Katrina Newman added 6 as well.


The Bombers now run their record to 6-0 on the season; they will be hosting an eight team tournament this weekend in Barnum. McGregor falls to 1-3 overall and will be in action again next Monday as they travel to Northland.
