Local Schools Compete in Nemadji Invite

Several local schools competed Thursday in the Nemadji Invitational at the Nemadji Golf Course last week. The event featured over 500 runners in three different levels–from middle school to junior varsity to varsity competition in both boys and girls divisions. Local schools participating in the event included Albrook, Carlton, Esko, Cloquet, Proctor, and Cromwell-Floodwood.


The Esko girls’ team tied Northwestern of Wisconsin for first in the girls varsity race, both with a team total of 78. Esko was awarded first on a tie-breaker because they had a higher place finisher. The top five finishers for each school qualify for the team’s total. The Cloquet girls finished seventh with a score of 177, Carlton was ninth with a total of 246 and Proctor was eleventh with 264.


In boys varsity action,
Ashland gained the boys title.
Esko being the top local finisher, came in eighth place with a total of 184. Proctor edged out Cloquet for eleventh place, finishing with a total of 257 to Cloquet’s 284 and Carlton finished in fourteenth with a total of 401.


Top individuals for the girls’ varsity race included Sarah Chasson of Cromwell-Floodwood, who finished second overall with a time of 16:12. Lindsey Dahl-Holm of Carlton finished fourth with a time of 16:30 and Marisa Shady of Esko was fifth coming in at 16:37. The top male local finisher was Jackson Lindquist, who finished fourth with a time of 17:25, Tommy Roseitter of Proctor was eleventh and Joey Martin was the Cloquet Lumberjacks top finisher, finishing in nineteenth place.


The next local meet will be on Thursday at Eveleth for the Eveleth-Gilbert Invitational. Results for Carlton, Cloquet, Cromwell-Floodwood, Hermantown, Proctor and Wrenshall from the Nemadji Invitational can be viewed at:
