The Carlton Bulldogs were ready to even their record after a loss last week to the Barnum Bombers.
They did just that by taking care of the Ely Timberwolves on Friday night with a score of 34-6.

“We made some adjustments on defense this week,” head coach Scott Battaglia told Northland Sports Online. “The adjustments we made were made to stop the running game.” It looks like they worked as the Carlton defense would hold the Timberwolves to 84 total yards on the night.

The Bulldogs would get on the score board first as Jacob Gran scored on a 3-yard touchdown run at the 11:33 mark of the second quarter. Colton Godbout added a 5-yard run with 2:39 remaining in the second half and the Bulldogs would lead 14-0. The Timberwolves scored following a Carlton penalty at 0.7 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 14-6 at the half.

Godbout and Gran added touchdown runs in the second half and Allan Davis connected with Chase Jokinen on a 30-yard touchdown pass as the Bulldogs rolled easily in the second half winning the game by twenty-eight.

Godbout finished with 112 yards rushing on the night for Carlton. Allan Davis was a near perfect 9-10 passing with a touchdown and Chase Jokinen had 7 receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Carlton is off next week with a bye and in action again on September 25th as they host Onamia. Ely falls to 0-2 on the season and play next Friday at Mesabi East.
