Cloquet Volleyball Competes In Coon Rapids Invite

The weekend marked a golden opportunity for the Cloquet girls volleyball team to hone their skills on the road during tournament play. Playing in a 16-team tournament in Coon Rapids, the Jacks finished 8th after beating DeLaSalle, while losing to Minneapolis Armstrong, Benilde-St. Margaret and Deer River.

The Jacks opened with a 25-15, 25-9 victory over DeLaSalle and then fell to Armstrong 20-25, 10-25. Cloquet then dropped a 17-25, 11-25 match to Benilde-St. Margaret before losing tight seventh place games 21-25, 19-25 to Deer River.

Cloquet had strong play up front from Maddie Kiehn and Katie Konietzko, finishing with 20 and 18 kills respectively.

Libero Kierra Johnson was stellar in the back row with 38 digs on the weekend, Ahnna Peterson finished with 6 ace serves, Keanna Karulak added 21 set assists and 6 ace serves and Katie Schulz was strong defensively with 21 digs.

Cloquet will be back home and in action on Thursday when they host Superior at 7pm.
