Courtney Esse’s hat trick against Duluth Central on Saturday helped the hosting Lady Lumberjack soccer team
pick up their fourth win of the season. Cloquet is now 4-2-1 on the year, with their only losses coming from teams in the Twin Cities area.

Esse
scored two early goals, giving the Lady Jacks a 2-0 lead at the half. She then picked up her third goal of the game in the second half, giving everyone cause to think about tossing their lid her way.

Cloquet also picked up a pair of second-half goals from midfielder Jesse Ryan. Kaitlyn Rikkola scored in the second half for the Jacks giving them the 6-0 route.

Going fairly untested on the afternoon, Cloquet goalkeeper Kaitrin Rathe finished the game with two saves, picking up her third shutout of the season.

The Lady Jacks
appeared to have hit their mid season stride as of late September. In their previous outing, the Jacks tied Hermantown, giving the still unbeaten Hawks the only blemish on their now 7-0-1 record. Cloquet’s two losses have come from perennial power Holy Angels, a game in which the Jacks dominated and played great in, and a 2-1 season opening loss to St. Francis.

Cloquet will be back in action on Thursday when they play host to Two Harbors in a 4:30pm game at Hilltop Field.
