This weekend is Cromwell Harvest Festival as the town celebrates the last such event of the summer. As part of the kick off to the weekend, the school always hosts a football game and this year the Cards took on the Kelliher-Northome Mustangs with Cromwell coming out on top 58-8.

Quarterback Jordan Suhonen and receiver Ryan Hutar hooked up in the early moments of the game on a 48-yard touchdown pass. It would be the first of three touchdown passes in the game for the duo. By the time the second quarter ended, the Cards saw Suhonen hook up with Hutar again for a 15-yard strike, giving Cromwell a 12-0 edge by the end of the first quarter.

The Cards scored three more times in the second quarter, with the first score coming from Suhonen and Hutar again this time on a 21-yard pass. Suhonen also scored on a quarterback keeper from the two-yard line and Jordan Smith caught a 37-yard pass for a score from Suhonen. By the end of the half the Cards held a 33-8 lead.

In the third quarter it was John Schliauter stepping in for a score from the 10-yard line, Smith kicked a 30-yard field goal and Suhonen ran back a punt for a score from 50 yards away as the Cards built the lead to 50-8.

The lone score in the final quarter came on a Nick Berg 56-yard touchdown run with Ross Arnold tacking on the extra point kick.

Suhonen passed for four touchdowns and he rushed for one and returned the punt for a score. For the game, Suhonen finished with 93 yards rushing and 137 yards passing, while Hutar picked up 84 yards in receptions.

The Cards are 2-0 on the season. Cromwell will put its early season winning streak on the line Friday when they travel to Hill City to take on the Hornets.
