Proctor Girls Get Third Win

The Proctor Rails picked up their third win of the season Tuesday night as the Rails defeated the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers by a score of 61-42 at Proctor High School. The Rails, who won this Lake Superior Conference contest got back to the winning side and ended a short a two game skid with the home victory.


The Rails started very fast Tuesday night as they jumped out to a 14 point halftime lead of 36-22. The Rails continued to play well in the second half as they went on to the 19 point home win.


The Rails were led by Lexi DeWall, who finished with 15 points Tuesday night. Krista Mottonen and Brianna Westendorf both chipped in with 13, Joelle Bolos added 9, Bridget Tesser finished with 6, Emily Fremling and Kortney Hjerpe each had 2 points, and rounding out the Rails scoring was Abby Hegstrom with 1.


The Hilltoppers were led by Abby Bushey, who scored 11 points in the loss for Marshall. Maddie Eyer and Molly Matthews both chipped in with 8 points, Meghan Matthews added 5 and Mary Baumgartner had 3 for the Hilltoppers.


The Rails, with the victory on Tuesday night improve to 3-5 overall on the season and will be back in action on Thursday night when they will face the Hibbing Bluejackets at Proctor High School. They will play Hinckley-Finlayson on Friday night in Hinckley to round out their pre-holiday schedule.


Duluth Marshall falls to 1-7 on the season as they have now lost three consecutive games. The Hilltoppers will try to rebound again Saturday afternoon when they face St. Paul’s Academy in St. Paul in a non-conference matchup.
