Hermantown’s stifling defense was so overwhelming on Friday night that one began to wonder if the Two Harbor’s Agates would even get to double figures in their girls basketball game against the Hawks. The Hawks led it 38-3 at halftime and then emptied the bench in their 57-28 win over Two Harbors.

Emily Neumann led the Hawks with 16 points and was joined in double-digits by Shania Bolen who had 12 points. Caitlin Windus finished with nine, Carly Hanson added six, Haley Wargin recorded four points, it was three for Mariah Ruhanon and Kessiah Mosier, while Courtney Kaneski and Britti Savre both added a pair of points in the Hawks win.

The Agates struggled to find themselves offensively in the first half as the Hawks pressured the ball and did not allow the Two Harbors offense any room. The Agates did respond with a 25 point second half performance, but by then the Hawks had the game in hand and the game was virtually over.

Ayla Lemke led Two Harbors with eight points in the game.

Hermantown hit six 3-pointers for the game, while the Agates did not hit a long range shot the entire game.
