Mirage Win Sixth Straight

Proctor/Hermantown has now won six straight girls hockey game after losing their first two games of the season. Tuesday the Mirage dispatched Eveleth/Gilbert 7-0 behind a hat trick from Reilly Fawcett and two goals from Sophie McGovern.

Justina Lindberg got things going offensively for the Mirage at 11:01 of the first period with Jillayne Gilbert assisting and before the period ended McGovern notched her first goal of the game from Fawcett and Hannah Johnson giving PH the 2-0 lead after one period. The Mirage held a 16-3 shot advantage after the opening stanza.

Just :50 seconds into the second period McGovern added her second goal of the game with Johnson assisting and the Fawcett scored her first goal of the game at 6:27 to give the Mirage a 4-0 lead after two periods of play. The second period saw the Mirage outshoot the Golden Bears 15-2.

Fawcett added her second goal of the game at 2:36 on an unassisted play to push the lead to 5-0. The Mirage went up 6-0 when Jenna Wassenaar scored from Fawcett and McGovern at 6:31, and finally it was Fawcett ending the scoring at 14:56 from McGovern.

The Mirage outshot the Golden Bears 38-8 for the game as Kylie Hommerding made all eight saves to preserve the shutout for PH. Kora Bonicatto finished with 31 saves on 38 shots for the Golden Bears.
