A big scoring surge to start the second half helped the South Ridge Panthers break open a tight game against Carlton in boys basketball on Tuesday night. The Panthers held a 31-27 halftime lead; but began the second half on an 11-0 run to pull away to a 60-47 over the Bulldogs in Carlton.

Kody Karppinen led the Panthers with 18 points and both Dominic Janke and Colton Peterson were also in double-figure scoring for South Ridge with 12 and 10 points respectively.

Leading Carlton in scoring were Eric Adams with 17 points and Lane Empson with 13 points.

South Ridge powered away from the four point halftime lead to take a 42-27 lead with 12:34 to go in the second half before Dominic Bennett finally scored for Carlton to finally slow down the Panthers. The Bulldogs worked their way back to get within four at 44-40 at the 8:18 mark, but that is as close as Carlton would get.

The Panthers also got seven points each from Bill Redding and Robbie McQuade, while Jerome Otis had four points and Zach Johnson scored two points.

Carlton got five points from Kyle Gunderson, Bennett scored four, Adam Ermatinger and Zach Veno each recorded three points and Cade Pierson finished with two points.
