Barnum Girls Squeek Out One Point Home Win Over Cromwell

The Barnum Bombers rebounded Thursday night after dropping their opening game of the season to the state’s top ranked single a school Mt. Iron-Buhl Monday night, the Bombers came back after trailing at halftime for the 48-47 win at Barnum High School Thursday night.


The Cromwell Cardinals built up a 26-22 halftime lead but saw the Bombers battle back and win by one at home. The Cardinals started their season 2-0 have now lost their last two games to even their record at 2-2.


Daron Mainville was the go to player for the Bombers; she led the way Thursday night by pouring in 22 points to lead all scorers as the Bombers outscored the Cardinals 26-21 in the second half for the one point win.


Megan Nelson followed up Mainville with 9 points. Emily Miletich added 6, while Cheyanne Johnson hit two three pointers to give her 6 points on the night. Jaelyn Bushey and Lauren Hultgren each added 2 points and it was Lissa Warpula finishing with 1 point on the night.


Christina Stenson and Kayle Johnson led the Cardinals with 10 points each while Sam Suhonen finished with 8, Allie Cahoon and Chelsea Swatek both chipped in with six points on the night. Ann Collman added 3 points and it was Kaaira Anderson and Brittany Johnson both closing the Cromwell scoring with 2 points on the night.


Barnum moves to 1-1 on the season and they will be in action again on Friday night when they will host the Floodwood Polar Bears in a Polar League Conference contest. Barnum will face ML-WR on Monday night at home in another Polar League Conference battle.


The Cardinals, again move to 2-2 on the season and they will look to end a two game losing streak on Monday night when they will face the Mt. Iron-Buhl Rangers at Cromwell High School.
