MOOSE LAKE- Sophomore forward Aly Tremblay of the Hayward Hurricanes had what most hockey players would consider a career game as Tremblay scored six goals and had one assist to lead Hayward to an 8-0 shutout victory over the Lady Rebels hockey team.

The Lady Rebels, who had entered Thursday night’s game with a record of 4-2 and were also listed as teams receiving votes in the latest states hockey polls, saw the Hurricanes cruise to the 8-0 win over a shortened rebels squad who were dealing with the flu bug that had attacked the Rebels roster.

Tremblay got the natural hat trick in the first period when she scored three of the Hurricanes four first period goals. Madeline Spangenberg scored the other first period goal and Spangenberg assisted on two of Tremblay’s first period goals.

With the Hurricanes leading 4-0 after one period, the Hurricanes added three more goals in the second with Tremblay scoring all three goals, giving her six on the night and the double hat trick. Cheyenne Turnbull assisted on two of the second period goals for Hayward and she would finish with three assists on the night.

Hayward added one more third period goal to make it an 8-0 margin of victory. The Lady Rebels, again playing shorthanded managed only 16 shots on net for the night, while the Rebels goal keepers faced a 42 shot barrage by the Hurricanes.

With the loss the Rebels fall to 4-3 on the season and they are back in action again on Tuesday night when they will host Webster Wisconsin at the Riverside Arena in Moose Lake. Hayward improves to 3-1 on the season and they will face Chippewa Falls, also on Tuesday night.
