Cloquet Falls To Duluth East 3-0

Sept 1

The young Cloquet girls volleyball team had an eye opening experience on Tuesday night in a 3-0 loss at home to the Duluth East Greyhounds.

East clobbered the Jacks 25-5 in game one and 25-16 in game two before the Jacks responded in game three, but still lost 26-24.

Cloquet could not find any answers to stopping the quick moving Greyhound offense, which featured the power hitting of Sadie Kunst. She continually bombarded the Lumberjacks with kills from the outside.

East opened game one with 9 straight points off the service game of Faye Lafferty and at one time led the game 19-3 before finishing it off 25-5.

One of the bright spots for the Lumberjacks came from Katie Konietzko, who gave the Greyhounds problems when she used a jump serve in game two and three. In game two, Konietzko pounded in 6 straight points and in game three she had 5 points in a row.

With the loss the Jacks fall to 0-2 on the season.
