Don’t look now, but the Cloquet volleyball team is suddenly building a lot of momentum towards the end of the season after picking up yet another win on Thursday night when they defeated Ashland 3-1. Jacks took the match against Ashland 25-20, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-22.

Cloquet was extremely good at the net on Thursday and were led by the trio of Sami Westendorf, Olivia Mayasich and Kristi Wappes. Mayasich slammed down 15 kills and added two blocks. Westendorf had eight kills, seven ace serves and 21 digs. Wappes recorded eight kills and two blocks. While that trio was handling the net chores it was Alex Oakes who was again running the offense with 35 set assists and strong back row play with 12 digs.

The Oredockers got a 15 kill performance from Nicole Wiebe and 10 kills each from Kaela Huber and Nicole Huber, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lumberjacks who improved to 11-9 overall and 5-2 in their last seven games.
