It took overtime, but the Proctor Rails had just enough to defeat Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 2-1 in a Lake Superior Conference boys soccer game on Thursday night under the lights in Cloquet.

The Rails, who lost a number of key players to graduation and a handful of players to injuries earlier this season, put 12 shots on CEC goalie Halen Danielson to pick up the win.

Proctor scored the game’s first goal in the 60th minute when Jake Kuno took a feed from Cade Hella. The Jacks evened the score in the 78th minute when Eric Peterson scored an unassisted marker putting things even at 1-1.

Near the end of the first overtime Ty Rackliffe found the back of the CEC net giving the Rails a 2-1 edge and they held on from there for the victory.

The win pushes the Rails record to 7-6-1, while the Jacks fell to 6-7-3.

Proctor goalie Michael Petoletti made 10 saves on 11 CEC shots.
