The two biggest wins of the season have the University of Minnesota Duluth up a few spots to No. 3 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, released Monday. The Bulldogs, who are now 3-1 against ranked opponents this fall, checked in at No. 6 a week ago.

After suffering their first loss of the year Sept. 21, UMD responded with convincing wins over then-No. 4 Concordia University-St. Paul and No. 10 Minnesota State University-Mankato last weekend at Romano Gymnasium, prompting the vault in the rankings.

The Bulldogs (15-1 overall) sit in a three-way tie for second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings with a 6-1 league record. Saturday’s triumph marked the 100th career NSIC victory for UMD head coach Jim Boos, the conference’s reigning coach of the year.

The Bulldogs hit the road for NSIC matches at the University of Mary and Minot State University this Friday and Saturday.
